Default Which multi function printer?

A friend does taxes on the side. She needs a printer. I have a Canon
MP 780 multi function printer.

I like the way mine works, but I don't like the fact that it seems to
print using color ink even when I am only using black and white. It
has a paper tray that will feed 8x11 paper and it also has a paper
feed in the back that will let me keep envelopes as well. I can print
to either one without special intervention

I want to help her select a printer that has fax copy scan and print.
What multi function inkjet printers have two paper feeds and which one
do you like?

Thank you for your time.

I have a Canon MP780 too and am very happy with it. Especially with the
fact it can use non-chipped inexpensive after market ink cartridges. I
wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of the upper end Canon multifunction
units. The new ones like the MP830 has even more features like duplex
coping. Plus, they can be refilled with little effort if saving money
on expensive OEM ink is a concern for her.

If you like lower quality, fading photos and print a lot so the
printhead does not clog I guess it is ok.

Not true. It is a lot of effort to go down in quality

You save nothing. You spend less and get less. That is not saving.
Many times you do not even get what you pay for.

As with all Canon's you can save money using generic ink to refill
your cartridges...I use only genuine aftermarket ink made for Canon
printers. Canon has said that generic ink is good enough compared to
thier own ink.

Terry

Skip the Inkjet thing and get a Laser type. I have a HP 3015 that is
fine. No expensive ink cartridges. B&W only. Great everything

Please give us the link for Canon's statement that generic ink is good
enough compared to their own ink. I've never met a rep from any printer
manufacturer who advised that aftermarket inks were as good as their OEM
inks. Anyone who tries to save money using "generic" inks would best buy
their bulk refill ink from a reputable online dealer instead whose products
are recommended by actual users.

A Canon rep had said in a newspaper interview that if your printing
black than any generic ink would do.

Are you talking about the dye-based or pigment based inks?
