We have a Konica Minolta Magicolor DL2300 that some people prefer to use rather than our color copier. One persistent problem is we get a message that the waste toner bottle is full even when it is not. I empty it & can't clear the message. I have wiped off everything I can think of that might be blocking any sensors. Any clue where this sensor really is? Sometimes I get a message that one color cartridge is not installed, but this message usually clear if I open & close the front door of the unit. Is there any point in ordering a new waste toner bottle or would the new one have the same problem? Any suggestions? Thanks.

There are two sensors for the waste toner bottle. One detects that the bottle
is in the printer and the other detects if the bottle is full. I have not
actually seen this printer but I expect the sensor that detects if the bottle
is full is an optical sensor, the service manual does not make it clear exactly
where the sensor is but it may well just need a wipe with a cloth. Replacing
the bottle probably won't help unless the inside is coated with toner causing
the issue.

Thanks for your reply. Actually, I have wiped this bottle down repeatedly. I finally called someone from Konica Minolta as we have our copier with them. The guy told me that wiping the bottle only works for so long, then it ultimately has to be replaced. I have milked an extra 2 years out of this $20 bottle so I ultimately just bought one.

Thank you for letting us know that. It is useful information.
I suspect the bottle material deteriorates and eventually passes light less
efficiently.

If, and that is probably so, the Konica-Minolta DL 2300 is anything like
most Konica-Minolta toner based printers, the waste toner box is
probably booby-trapped (chipped) in some manner like the toner
cartridges are, and if you do not buy a new one, the printer will nag
you, at least, and possibly not even function normally (like slow down
considerably, etc) because they want you to replace anything they think
needs replacement.
Konica-Minolta, in spite of their website which is full of green-washing
about "sustainable" concerns and their many wonderful initiatives, this
company is continually coming up with nefarious ways to force you to
toss out parts and "consumables", and even whole printers by making the
toner cartridges and other items will not work fully once they have
reached their "Konica" determined "lifespan", even something as
ridiculous as the waste ink/toner bottle.
Konica-Minolta color laser printers produce great images, but they can't
leave well enough alone, They want to make clients' lives miserable by
degrading the printer abilities, or just just trying to just to try to
convince you to buy genuine Konica-Minolta parts if you need them or not.
I used to recommend their printers regularly, but now that I have seen
how the printer is being marketed, I no longer do. Others may do the
same, but as a Konica-Minolta printer owner, it annoys me.
