Default ink jet cartridge refill systems .. do they work??

The price of ink cartridges and how quickly they go through ink is
outrageous.

So I went ahead and purchased refillable ink cartridges from ebay for
my epson cx8400. I paid about $20 including shipping for 4 pre-filled
cartridges with no sponge inside.

Problem is .. they don't work.. leaking ink everywhere, missing spots,
colors all over the place.

After just a few days of playing around - maybe printed 50 sheets..
black and red cartridges are empty. Yellow looks completely full and
blue is about half full.

I tried to contact the seller but no response. Oddly, all his reviews
for the same product are great.

Thinking that maybe it was just the quality of his product, i search
for others, but when I look at other products they appear to be the
product.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ayphotohosting

Has anybody had any luck with refill cartridge systems? I'm tempted to
move away from a color jet and to a black only that I know can be
refilled.

Needless to say I will attempt to return this product.

I use bulk ink and have been refilling for 10 years successfully.
After about 5 refills, you notice less than perfect printing so have
to buy new.

I use syringes to refill HP cartridges - BEFORE THEY RUN OUT!!!! If
you wait until they run out, it fries the cartridge.

Refill cartridges sometimes work and sometimes don't.

Use it up rapidly. Do not let your printer sit or it will have a higher
risk of clogging than when using Epson ink.

The final photo results is nowhere near as good unless your taste if far
from fussy and the risk of fading is increased. Personally I would
never consider that and ebay is most likely the worst place to dabble in
the crappy cheapo inks.

Just like I suspected. I have been saying they are no good but what you
got from crappy ebay is the worst the communists have to offer.

Sounds like you got a great deal. Epson should be looking better now.

What do you expect from the fly by niters.

Guess who wrote them. The seller and a few of his friends and many of
the idiots you will find in this ng for they are really plants. And
when you say either anything bad about the generics or something good
about OEM ink they go bizerk.

Beware of any positive responses in this ng, In a couple of years I
have seen them and then read about users posting responses like you did
but to be honest your experience is worse. However many had their
printers totally clogged.

Here is the problem.

1. Many different vendors sell the same exact crap from the same crappy
chinese sources under their own name and will not tell you what they are
selling so nobody can really track the record of these products.

2. Most vendors do not dislcose what they are selling and the few that
comply do not do that properly.

3. The vendors can change their sources at any time to make more money
and will not tell you when they do so if you get something for them that
you think is ok on one order may be something that can ruin your printer
on the next order.

4. You run the risk of increased fading down the line.

5. If you eye is not that discerning you may not be able to tell lower
quality in all cases.

6t. The color may not be accurate but you may not care about that.

7. Customer service may not be great. I think you found that out.

If one look at it the right way you notice that immediately. Then comes the fading.

One has to beware of the In Da Business Responses in this ng.

There you go.

problem is a lot of manufacturers (like epson) have a chip to only
allow so many pages to print. It's part of the giant scam that allows
them to sell you a printer for $70 and cartridges for $30.

These cartridges had no spounges which i guess is part of the problem
with smearing. Problems where beyond poor quality, it's simply
spitting out crap.

I'm sending them back. my loss, shipping costs.

I would still like to find a new black ink printer that I can refill
and use to make copies?

What new models do you recommend? If it's got a chip it can be
problematic. Where can I get good bulk ink?'

Does anybody still make a black only jet? Any without a chip?

Laser printers are expensive and toner even more so.

Thanks.

Pantone but only for Epson printers last I checked.

They usually have solver trim or are a combination of black and grey.

None have chips. The cartridges have the chips.

Laser printers are not expensive and cheaper to run. A monochrome laser
is very inexpensive.

I attribute my success on refills to starting with a good bulk ink
supplier who can match their special inks to each cartridge. It is
critical because one size does not fit all.

The best supplier I've found is Annie Wells at:

http://www.ink-etc.com/hp-bulk_inks.html

All the brands are good. I love HP and dislike Epson, but I'm now
trying an older Canon and like it so far, maybe better than the
others.

If I were buying, I 'd just browse the Refill Kits first and then buy
the printer based on speed/cost and what cartridge it uses. Like I
said, they are all good. Read the refill instructions very carefully.

Good Luck.
