Default HP LaserJet 5 - printed page has slight text ghosting - please help

Seems like words get stuck on the roller.
Any ideas what the problem might be?

Two possibilities.
Most likely the toner cartridge, if you have a spare then try that.
You can do an easy test.
Put a piece of paper in the drop down multipurpose tray, print a configuration
page from the printer front panel.
Open the toner cover just as the paper disappears into the printer. Remove the
toner and examine the page in the printer. If the ghost is present on the part
of the page that you can see then the cause is the toner cartridge. If it is
definitely not there then the cause is the fuser.
