I'm trying to install an HP Laserjet 4000 on a Windows network as a
network printer. The printer has a Jeet Direct card installed and the
hosts can ping and telnet into the printer. I've downloaded the
latest LJ4000 drivers in PCL 6 and HP Universal Postcript, but for
some reason I just can't communicate with the printer. As previously
mentioned I can ping the printer and telnet to it, but the standard
Windows and HP installation processes go no where with the error that
the printer could not be found. Almost every time a test page is
attempted it fails. A few times it printed a single page with the

When installing the printer, do NOT install it as a network printer.
Install it as a local printer and when asked for the port create a new
Standard TCP/IP port using the printer's IP address.
