HP DeskJet 6980 Ink Status
Recently installed a recycled 3-color cartridge. Began getting a nag
message: The original HP ink in the tri-color print cartridge has been
depleted. Kept popping up even when not printing. Reseated the
cartridge and the message went away, perhaps because of reseating or
perhaps just coincidence. But when I print, the Ink Status popup is
blank for the 3-color cartridge. Any way to make it work?

The print cartridge itself has information that it has been depleted, and
this cannot be reset. You can ignore the nag messages, they will not affect
printing.

Absolutely, just buy an HP cart that is designed for the machine. Look
in the manual for the appropriate part number. I think it is sold at
Staples or Office Depot.
