HP 882C leaking black ink.

Which roller? If it is one on the left (looking into the printer) I would
suspect a paper jam or printing a full size document on narrow paper may
have allowed printing directly on the rollers. To clean this up I would use
a damp paper towel - actually several.... unplug the printer, then open the
lid and clean a a bit of roller, then advance the rollers, then clean some
more. It may help to remove the read cleanout panel so you can more easily
rotate the rollers. Repeat until finished....

Hi,

Output has a faint black line, about ¼" wide running down the paper from top
to bottom near the centre line.
When I turn off the power and lift the lid I see what appear to be four grey
rollers in a row. One has a wet black line running around it about ¼"
wide......
It is aligned with the line on the paper. It doesn't take a Sherlock Holmes
to deduce that this is more than a coincidence.

In front of each roller there are three grey pads. Several are covered with
wet black ink.
What might be the cause of this and how should it be cleaned up?

Oops - it should have been "rear cleanout panel". At the back of the
printer is a panel with a large knob, rotate it to remove the back panel.
You can advance the rollers by manually pushing on them (gently).
