Try the following (as it was suggested by fta777 in microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware):

Have you checked your usbstor.inf file, maybe you don't have this file in C:\Windows\INF (this is a hidden folder). If you don't have this file Windows will not recognize the device.

You can get the file of the instalation disk of windows XP, it is in the folder I386 with the name Usbstor.in_, you will need to decompress this file, to decompress it you first copy the file to c: then you run this command restore -r c:\usbstor.in_

After this you will have the file usbstor.inf in c:\, now copy it to the folder c:\Windows\INF

You also have to check your usbstor.sys file, this file is located in c:\windows\system32\drivers if you don't have it, it is located in the windows installation disk in the folder i386, but it is inside the archive DRIVER.CAB, you just need to decompress Usbstor.sys from this archive (you can do this with winzip) then copy this file to c:\windows\system32\drivers

Hi, Thanks very much for getting back to me!

I will try what you suggested it just seems weird that I tried scanning earlier, using the Microsoft Scanner software and it worked a treat. Allthough it says the printer is connected, it just will not print anything. It comes with HP All-In-One software which hasnt been installed, I should imagine that is because it exits set-up when it finds I havent got that certain usbstor file.

I cant see how it can access the scanner and work fine, yet cant print a thing?

Do you still suggest looking at the files or do you think something else is wrong?

Many Thanks,

Rob

Yes, find the files and then reinstall the driver. There are drivers for
the scanner, the camera card slots and the printer; it would seem the
installation stopped at the camera slots and did not install the printer
driver.
