would some one please tell me (in laymans terms) how to get my windowsxp to recognize my epson stylus440 printer. i've downloaded the right driver and i have the icon for the printer in my lil tray below next to the clock. its been working good for awhile, but now it just comes on and sits there and wont print or do anything when i click on print.i know i'm out of black ink but theres still color ink in one of the inkjets.should this stop the printer from printing at all? please help someone(i'm new to computers and have no idea what i'm doing)lol. thank you, mxslong

First thing I would try is plug the printer into another computer.
That way you can at least figure out is it the computer or the printer
that is giving you the problem.
Yes, the printer will not work unless all ink cartridges have ink in
them, or the printer believes there is.

If a solid red light is showing, indicating a color is empty, you will not
be able to print until the software gets rid of that red light. That means
the cartridge must be replaced, even if there is ink in the other two colors
showing.
