Heavy duty CD printer

Good evening to all,

for about 1 year i've used a Primera Disk Publisher II system, but
after a while i discovered it's not usable in a production
environment, even a small print center. Why? Because the robot arm is
slow and makes some useless movements, it gives you many false
warnings, and the print quality is poor (even the cheapest Epson or
Canon printer performs better), the ink cartridges are small and far
too expensive to be economicaly efficient etc. I should not mention
that refilling the cartridges is a pain, and the ink capacity rests
for only 50-100 disks. Overall speed is slow, in the lucky days you
can produce about 100 cd's/day at 650 MB/disk + photo quality print.

So... i've just built a wytron-688 system, for mid-range duplication.
Works like a charm.

I need now 4-5 inkjet printers, only for cd printing. Can anyone
recommend me some brands / models ?

The main characteristics i'm looking for are:
- good print quality
- resonable printing speed
- continuous ink system or ...
- large capacity ink cartridges or ...
- cheap compatible/aftermarket/refills ink
- low cost -- not more than about $300+taxes / printer.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

The Epson R280 is a high-quality photo and disc printer, compatible tanks
are about $5 each, and CIS is also available. There's also a cheaper Epson
model, but this one is under $100. One caveat is that the Epson ink is
easily smeared or smudged, more so than the Canon inks.
The HP printers will print discs, but the software is hopelessly bad.

Also good to note that Epson has just announced a new disc publishing
system,

Which HP printers do you mean? Which inks? Is any special method or
hardware required to feed the disks? Does this process scuff or
otherwise damage the play-side in any way?
