epson stylus pro 9800 driver leopard compatibility

we are experiencing problems with the latest printer driver (v6.11 &
us beta version) for macintel / leopard clients & leopard server
machines, specifically with the following:

1. print jobs are not being deleted from the printer queue upon
completion;
2. oversize (banner) printing does not work - although roll & oversize
paper sizes are available

strangely enough printing on the same network from PPC / tiger
machines using the previous printer driver (v3.5) works just fine, and
both problems do not occur.

epson australia advised the following:
1. use the us beta driver (not the one they have on their own
website!!!)
2. apparently there is a "known" limitation of 44inch to roll
printing...

any thoughts, experiences or even a solution (short of using a rip)
appreciated.
