Is there a way to prevent your Epson R200 inkjet from self cleaning
the ink heads when its switched on and also after every print job has
completed? It's really annoying because it just unnecessarily uses up
ink when you don't need the heads cleaning. I'm using jet tecs so
switch off to get the extra boost of ink. The only trouble is, if you
have a few cartridges all running out within a few mins of each other
you're constantly switching on and off to get the extra boost of ink
from the jet tecs but by the time you have switched on and off for the
second, third of fourth cart that needed the boost, the first one has
almost run out completely after its boost due to the stupid cleaning
cycles.

If you do not use Epson ink be thankful that it does a self clean. If
should even do more when you use crap ink.

That garbage is not designed for an Epson printer. I asked Epson and that is what they said. I believe them.

Sadly, the printer has these "features" written into the firmware via
some EEPROMs and timers as well, making it difficult to alter the
cleaning pattern. Some people find if they do not shut their printer
off, it lessen the number of cleaning cycles, but it also wastes
electricity and wears some components.

I'm confused. You are turning it on and off to 'get the extra boost of
ink' -- how do you think that 'extra boost' is being done other than by
forcing the cleaning cycle you say you want to avoid? If you want to
avoid it, just leave it turned on. I keep mine on all the time, and I
don't think I have ever heard it doing a cleaning cycle on it's own. And
yes, if you are near end of life for several carts at the same time, it's
probably better to replace them all at once.

If he used the recommended ink he would not need a boost. He should not complain about wasting some low grade crap ink anyway.

I don't use crap ink. I use Jet Tec and IMO have found it to be of a
very high quality if not better than Epson.

And most people don't see his posts anyway with the newsreaders they
are using so it is completely pointless for him to post html.

That's a very good idea! I may very well just try leaving it switched
on permanently, see if it makes a difference.
