Epson D68 complaining any brand new Epson cartridge is empty!!!!
Recently I put a brand new black inl Epson cartridge in my D68.
After a few days when I needed to print something it said the cartridge
was empty! I only used it for a page or two!
Since I had another brand new Epson cartridge and I really needed to
print ilmediatly I put it in the printer and SAME THING: it said the
cartridge was empty!!!
I cannot buy again other cartridge to see the printer say they are empty...
So I need the solution!
Have some of other Epson printers owners experienced that "problem"?
I'll say again that the cartridge are EPSON cartridge not copies!

Re: Epson D68 complaining any brand new Epson cartridge is empty!!!!
If the ink cartridge are 3rd party, it is possible they ink monitor chip
is either the wrong type or misprogrammed. That does occasionally happen.
The chip's surface may be dirty, or that of the small gold wires that
contact the chip surface/. Try gently and carefully clean them with a
cotton swab with some rubbing alcohol on it. Be careful not to entangle
the wires and pull at them, they are brittle and can break off.
If those cartridges are OEM Epson type, and not 3rd party or refill,
contact Epson. They may be a manufacturing defect, misprogrammed, or
even counterfeit.

I specified TWO times it was genuine EPSON to avoid that kind of
commentary! But thanks anyway...

Re: Epson D68 complaining any brand new Epson cartridge is empty!!!!
Paul,
Just so you understand, I have no problem with people buying third party
inks, so my comment was not as a result of some personal bias about your
ink source. I read about 200-300 emails and postings a day, and
sometimes I miss a detail.
Also some people don't make the distinction when they refer to an Epson
Cartridge if it is a genuine product or simply one that states "Epson"
somewhere on the label which some 3rd party do. In the case of Epson,
OEM and genuine are the same thing.
There are indeed counterfeit Epson "branded" cartridges on the market,
and Epson has acknowledged this, in fact they have been so well made in
some cases Epson is unable to tell the difference, so no matter how many
time you insist they are genuine, you can't be sure.
And lastly, Eposn has changed the chip programming on some printer
models mid-stream to try to confound ink resetter devices and other
methods of refill, so some printers and cartridges may not be as
compatible as first expected.
One other suggestion, make sure the cartridge is fully inserted.
Sometimes an incomplete connection will throw errors from the ink
monitor chip if the contacts are intermittent.

I think that's probably the problem: the chip thinks it's a false cartridge!
So I have to throw away a printer I didn't use a lotÉ

Epson ink is overpriced like the other OEMs but it is nice to see
everybody having the problems trying to screw Epson back.
Re: Epson D68 complaining any brand new Epson cartridge is empty!!!!
You may be able to find a chip resetter for your model. Unfortunately, ??I don't know anything about the D series printers.????Where are they sold, and do you have any idea of the equivalent number ??in the C or CX series?????Epson once promised me a list of cross references, but unfortunately ??never came through...????Art??????If you are interested in issues surrounding e-waste,??
