I have a Dell 3100cn printer and it seems it needs a new drum reset
chip. I have already cleaned the old toner out of the old drum but the
printer wants to see a new chip. I have not been able to find these
available at a reasonable price. I tried an ebay auction but they sent
the wrong part and now say they don't have any.
Question, since this chip probably just transmits a fixed ID code; would
swapping it with another, also old, chip fool the printer into thinking
it has a new drum? Has anyone tried this? Does anyone have an old drum
and would you be willing to ship just the chip to me?
Does anyone know where to buy a new drum chip?

Nice try, but they don't carry Dell parts and they don't carry drum
reset chips
