Yes!
You need to take off the label then drill through the air hole in the center
of the top of the cartridge. Inject ink slowly until it just shows over the
top of the hole, draw back slightly, wipe clean refix label or put some tape
over the hole and the cartridge is ready. The cartridge can be used again
but once refilled will show as empty but will still work.

You could ruin the printer
You will get faded photos more rapidly
You will get lower quality
It is messy
Now if all you are going to do is print text where the quality is not required and do not care about the printer and do not mind the mess than by all means do this if you have the time.

Are Cannon PC40 cartridges refillable ?
Once again incorrect information from this uninformed 'person'.
It has been shown by reputable online Technical magazines (Environmentally friendly) including www.trustedreviews.com that some third party ink sellers/refillers are using ink that has been found to be BETTER IN QUALITY than some oem ink. This ink has also been shown to FADE LESS than some oem ink.
Of course you who HAS NOT used third party ink will disagree, because it doe not suite your uninformed views.
Many things in life are 'messy' but refilling is not. As the cartridges are self contained units with the printhead and electronics on them, refilling cannot ruin the printer.
Once again measekite you show your biased views as we have all come to expect.

On this subject trusted reviews should not be trusted. They go against the leading source of information in the industry, Wilhelm who can be trusted.

unless they leak. But they can fade and produce substandard quality.
But since most of this type of printer is not used for photo that will eliminate some of the quality issues. And if you print temporary throw away documents or documents for the file cabinet then quality is not as much of an issue.
Once again measekite you show your biased views as we have all come to expect.

What ink will fade less than Cannon CLI8 ink?
Is it available in the US?
Not True! Once again incorrect information from this uninformed 'person'. Epson Ultrachrome K3 ink will fade less than Canopn CLI8
Ink from OCP has been found not to fade as quickly as Canon's own.
The www.trustedreviews.com report into ink quality found that end users
liked Canon's own ink least. Unlike Wilhelm's Trustedreviews.com didn't get
paid by various OEM printer manufacturers.
