Default cannon BJC 4000

The printer was in storage for a while. Now when powered on, the ink cartridge
move to the middle and stays there instead of resting on the right side of the
carriage. Makes a partial effort to get to the right but returns to the center
and stays put. I cannot see any switches behind the door panels.

What should I be looking for?

Thanks for your help

Does tyhe printer beep or are tere any blinking lights?
If so, please advise the number of beeps or the light pattern (exact number of
orange flashes is important).

Hello,

a few weeks ago I had a similar case with a Canon BJC 2000 (black BC 02 ink
cartridge). A new black BC 02 cartridge did the trick. The old one was
either clogged/dried-out or defective, I think.

Hope this helps.

Petrus.

Hi Petrus:
Thank you for your suggestion and getting back to me. I was wondering
whether I should post my query again or give up :-). I will try your idea.

Regards
hg.

The BC-02 cartridges can fail and they have the same symptom as the OP reported
when they do but usually there are either beeps or flashing lights that confirm
the printhead has failed. Clogged printheads will not behave this way, they
just print badly.

Thanks Tony.I just ordered a new cartridge. It will arrive in about a
week(Considerable saving as compared to local Office Depot). I will let you
know.
