Default Can't print to LaserJet 1100 after printer goes to sleep

I recently purchased a HP Pavilion Slimline s3300t running Windows
Vista. I have this connected to an older HP LaserJet 1100. The
Slimline s3300t does not have a parallel port and the LaserJet 1100
does not have a USB connection. I purchased a USB-to-Parallel cable
and was successful at connecting my printer and PC together. However,
I have run into a problem. Whenever the printer goes to sleep, I can
no longer print to it (even if I wake it up - so the little green
light in the front goes on - prior to sending something to the
printer.) It works fine if I reboot the PC, but again if the printer
goes to sleep I cannot print to the printer. The only solution is to
reboot the PC. Does anyone have a suggestion? I need help!!

Thanks.
