Brother HL-2040 with print light flashing

I have a customer that has an HL-2040 that will not print following a
paper jam. The print light just flashes. I have opened the back,
removed the toner, and removed the paper tray, and cannot see any
paper. Brother has been no help.

I should note that this is the second one of these printers that has
done this to the customer. The first one was replaced under Brother's
warranty, but now the printer is out of warranty.

Any ideas?
