Ok, so's I will bore anyone that once to bother to read...
Normally, I do my major upgrading around this time of year. However, I got
my new EVGA 780i in late December, shortly after release. My Intel Core2 Duo
E6600 is performing great at 3.24 ghz, and don't want to replace it till the
new 45nm quads are released.
However, I ain't happy unless I am tinkering every now and then, so here is
what I have done and am doing:
I added 2 more gb of Corsair Dominator PC8500 ram, last Friday, bringing my
total to 4gb running at 1066 mhz .
I also ordered a few extra 120 mm fans, 4 for the side panel, and one to
exhaust out the top, to go along with the intake and exhaust fans already
supplied.
I hope to get all my parts moved into the new case, sometime tomorrow. With
the better cooling scheme, I hope to get my overclock on my E6600 up
somewhere between 3.4-3.6 ghz.
Then, all that is left I want to do, is order Vista Ultimate 64 bit ( which
is why I wanted to increase my ram to 4gb), and another sata hard drive to
devote to it, and dual boot with XP Pro. I am curious to do a comparison, of
FSX on XP Pro, and Vista running in DX10.
Hey, I think I have seen where some on here, are dual booting and running
FSX on two operating systems, any problems doing this with one copy of FSX,
regarding activation?

That's OK, we all love to hear an upgrade story. :-)
I'm in the middle of upgrading to a 6600 from an Opteron 185, although I
went with the P35-DSR3. I've been running it at 3 GHZ stock and 1 GHZ
memory, but I really haven't done any stress testing yet. I'm really
surprised by the speed jump from the Opteron, almost 2.5 times. The only
disappointment is the video, I went from a 7800GT to a 8600GTS with almost 0
gain. But I'll likely go to an 8800?? when I upgrade to a 45 nm chip.

Good to hear, I am using a Zalman 9700 NT. Seems to do a pretty good job.

Ok then, since there were some interested, below are a couple of pics of my
new case after I got everything installed and up and running:
Since moving to the new case, it dropped my temps overall about 5-6c for
system and mb, and about 2-3c for cpu cores.
Also, I replaced the tim and modded the pad a little, as it was not aligned
good, on the heatpipe for the NB and SB, and replaced the tim on the
mosfets, brought my MCP temp down by about 20C.
I have been tweaking my E6600 for a better overclock, have it up to 3.4 ghz
now with more headroom I think, and am running my ram at 1066 mhz.

Holy Crap! Look at all those fans; what case is that (can't quite read the
name)?

It came with a 120mm intake fan in front bottom, blowing over hard drive
bay, and a 120 mm rear exhaust fan.
In addition, I added 4 ea 120 mm fans for the side panel, and a 120mm fan
exhausting out the top. I also have the power supply flipped ( the supplied
bracket works both ways), to where it's fan exhausts to the top.
