Should I KEEP my video card?

I was planning on building a quad-core system [intel] and am wondering
if it would be ok to recycle and keep using my nvidia 6800gs 128mg?

If not, what would be a good entry-level vid card?

I aint made of money, thanks a lot.

At $115 it's getting pretty close.

Most 128Mb 6800GS cards I've seen are AGP and not PCIe. In fact, in 30
seconds of Googling, I could not find a single PCI-e 128Mb 6800GS card. And
tha's all the time I felt like investing. For any modern gaming, assuming
it's PCIe, it's not adequate. If it's not PCIe then make sure you use
non-conducting snippers to trim the PCB board to make it fit.

Did you post your vague question for a legitimate answer or are you
looking for an e-hug?

Keep your video card for what uses? What do you do with it? You want to
build an "Intel Quad Core" new PC on a budget...great, what do you want
to do with that rig that you can't do now with yours?

Sure, as long as your motherboard has a slot for the card (i.e., the nVidia
6800 GS 128 MByte is a PCI-e card.) You'll find no AGP slot motherboards
that are quad-core capable. Given that requirement, and as long as you
don't expect to play first-person shooter games from the last several years
or run the Aero Vista interface why not?

'Entry level' is in the eye of the beholder. In addition to raw performance
in 3-D acceleration, suitability for HDTV is also a consideration. And then
there is the question of system balance. A $200 to $300 nVidia based PCI-e
display adapter might be consider a good entry level to balance an Intel
quad-core CPU. A 8600 GT 256 MByte nVidia based display adapter for ~ $70
US would be about the minimum capability to consider if your present card is
AGP.

Well I mainly do APPS but wanted to do 'some' gaming on the side.
