My new PC is an Intel CoreT 2 Quad Core Q9450 (2.66 GHz, 12 MB cache,
1333 MHz) and has a 512 MB nVIDIA GeoForce 8800GT. Occasionally
recently I've been getting some graphics corruption when running my
only 'game', MS Flight Simulator (FSX). Usually this is when also
running Google Earth, although with a quad core system I wouldn't have
expected this to matter?
Anyway, although I'm not technically skilled at this stuff, I assume
it must be related to my nVidia settings. However, I'm nervous about
changing anything unless I can be 100% sure I can restore it reliably.
So when I saw reference to nTune in the nVidia Control Panel I took a
look at the site linked http://www.nvidia.com/object/ntune_5.05.54.00.html
As it seems to include some sort of 'optimisation', and claims to have
an easy UI, maybe that's an approach I should investigate? I haven't
yet installed it. Could experienced users give me their thoughts on
this please?
I should add that I recently tried another tool, nHancer, but found it
dauntingly complex.

Which drivers are you running and what specific type of corruption are you
experiencing?

Driver Version 169.21. Symptoms were varied and inconsistent, but most
frequent one was that menu was corrupted and scenery (VFR Gen-X)
blurred. As shown here: http://img107.imageshack.us/img107/1...blurry2oo7.jpg

Try the freshly baked 175.19's from Nvidia's site.
Not only do they now have a specific MS Flight Simulator X profile, but
they seem to behave well. I just beat the hell out of them in Oblivion:
1600x1200 x HDR x 4xFSAA x Multisample x 16 Aniso x LOD 0.0 x No
optimization x 1 frame ahead restriction x max memory usage 716M on a
512M 8800GTS.
Runs like butter and for the first time in months, I didn't get a pop up
Oblivion crash dialog box after I shut Oblivion down...which I have
always blamed on nvidia and it seems I was right.
Going from indoors to outdoors in Oblivion is a good test for system
stability, particularly at the edge of the performance envelope/bucket.

Duly installed 175.19 thanks. Will see how it goes.
