I'm running Win XP Professional on a Toshiba Satellite A200 laptop, display adapter: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300.
When I scroll down a webpage I get a ripple effect which is really annoying. Also my system seems to be running a lot slower than normal since the problem started a few weeks ago. I have no idea what caused it as a number of people use the laptop and no one seems to want to own up!! I did try to download the latest NVIDIA drivers but got the following error message:
"NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible
with your current hardware."
I checked in device manager and it says the NVIDIA driver is working properly anyway. However, there is a yellow exclamation mark next to "serial" (under "non-plug and play drivers") and "unknown device" (under "other devices") when I view hidden files.
I would love to know how to fix this problem. As I am a complete novice in the area any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You might need a more precise model number than that, to ensure you're getting
the right driver. There are six models of Satellite A200 listed here.
Whoever installed WinXP on the laptop, should have kept all the drivers
used, somewhere safe for emergencies. I suspect the laptop may have
shipped with Vista on it, and WinXP might not have the same level of
support. So whoever did the initial install, may have had to look around
a bit, to find a driver to use.
Toshiba has multiple driver download sites, to further complicate matters.
There are also drivers sometimes hosted on the laptop review sites, that
have been hacked to make them more universally usable. So that is
another source you could look into.

I have the same effect on my work computer with some websites, my own
one being one of them, but at home I have no problem. 2 nights ago, I
did have it happen on my home one, and I began to worry, cos it's only
a 3 week old computer. Also, the text and everything on the page looked
a little smaller. So I clicked the page menu in the top right hand
corner, and noticed the zoom was not set to 100%. I rectified that and
everything was back to normal, including no ripple when crolling. It
might be worth just checking that setting.

thanks for the replies. FYI zoom is already set at 100% so unfortunately that's not the problem here. If only it were that easy!!
I have tried to update the driver in Device Manager but it says "there is no better match for the hardware than the one I am using".
I ran "DxDiag" and under "Device" in the "display" tab it looks like I don't have a graphics card!!! It says "n/a". However in Device Manager I see the Nvidia graphics card is listed and says is working correctly.

Uninstall all your graphics drivers, maybe even using a driver cleaner, then
re-install latest drivers for your card.
