I'd rate that, "far too expensive" are the GTX260/80 not similar price or
cheaper. What about the new ATI stuff, those 4870's the reviews have been
banging on about how great they are. I dunno, read more reviews about all
the cards in that price bracket. I still think that its far too bloody
expensive! Sorry that this hasn't been much help!

That's a 9800GX2 so it is two 9800GTX strapped together. I've seen
bencmmarks for that card and it performs very well. Also, that is a UK
price so not sure how that compares to NA proces. THe 4870 dual chip card
wil be about $550.00 so would be a better buy when it is released soon.
I got this card after some thought. It will do for me for a while anyway.
Just bought an Intel Core 2 Quad 45nm processor with 2.5ghz and a FSB of
1333mhz.

Which application wasn't running well enough before, at least not well
enough to have you get the GX2 as a replacement, that is running better
now...at least well enough that it will do you "for awhile".
Sorry, i should have been more specific.
I am building a new PC with reasonably upto date components to last me for a
few years.
My current PC is about 6 years old now and the hardware aint upto the job
for current games. COD4 is very slow on it and i am having some hardware
issues too.
I have looked around for a while now about making a new PC so i am happy
with what i am building.
Here is an OT question regarding Windows Vista OEM. I want to install this
on my new PC but i am unsure of the licence jargon. I see it as being the
following.
If i am the legitimate licence holder and say for example after a couple of
years i need to reinstall Vista for some reason, like after a major hardware
change it won't let me as it is only licenced once.
Am i correct??
Phil.

No, you are incorrect. The license allows one move to new hardware. A
telephone call to MS Support will allow additional moves.

You are correct in that Vista will not let you re-install and the other
Dave is correct in that MSFT will override that prohibition.
It's up to you to decide if that is acceptable practice, personally I
refuse to be bound by those arbitrary and ultimately ineffectual
restrictions.
You built a whole new PC to play CoD4, instead of going the console
route? I am proud of you!
