You had both the 6 pin and 8 pin connectors inserted into the GX2??
Hi,
I just bought an EVGA 9800 GX2 video card and it refuses to boot. And
when I swapped out my spare card (a 7900 GT) into the slot and tried to
reboot, the computer would not boot at all until I unplugged the power
supply and plugged it back in and then rebooted. Does this mean my PSU
cannot handle the GX2? The recommended specs for the GX2 are a 580W and I
am using a 750W Truepower. I have two HDDs, a soundcard, and an Intel E6700
dual core. Is this too much strain on the system?

Yep, I checked that. I did need to use and extender on the 8 pin, but I
don't think that makes a difference.

It's also the KO overclocked version, so I'm wondering if that needs more
power than the instructions indicates, since they seem to be written for a
stock version GX2.

had a thermaltake tru power 800 watt psu and the pc would not boot,so i
went out and bought a thermaltake 1200 watt tru power and it boots now,so to
your question yes to much strain on the psu a more more powerfull psu and
make sure that it has a 6 pin and 8 pin pci express cables ...
