Default Upgrade from Duo to Quad

Motherboard Intel D975XBG LGA 775 core 2 6300@1.86GHz
I got a Intel Q6600 Quad core 2.40GHz installed it and booted right up
but now every 30sec. or so i get the Error report send to MS
So till i find out whats up I put the old Duo 2 processor 1.86GHz back in now the fan that blows on the processor heatsink is running at full speed all the time

As it says on the dell website, the motherboard only supports Intel® Celeron®, Intel® Celeron® Dual Core, Intel® Pentium® Dual Core, Intel CoreTM 2 Duo. So you would most likely be wasting your money as the motherboard does not have the hardware to support quad core.
