Motherboard Intel D975XBG LGA 775 core 2 6300@1.86GHz
I got a Intel Q6600 Quad core 2.40GHz installed it and booted right up
but now every 30sec. or so i get the Error report send to MS
So till i find out whats up I put the old Duo 2 processor 1.86GHz back in now the fan that blows on the processor heatsink is running at full speed all the time
I put the Quad back in and the fan run's normal now
The error is Media Center Receiver Service has a problem and needs to close
I got that fixed also
I Ran MceRepair and it's all better
I guess wants you go Quad you can't go back?

well i started my computer today and here it go's again
"Media Center Receiver Service has encountered a problem
and needs to close"
Why would there be a problem with windows changing the CPU?
As it says on the dell website, the motherboard only supports Intel® Celeron®, Intel® Celeron® Dual Core, Intel® Pentium® Dual Core, Intel CoreTM 2 Duo. So you would most likely be wasting your money as the motherboard does not have the hardware to support quad core.
