How connect sata hdd connect to ide mother board

I have help to how connect sata 320 Gb hdd to Ide mother board I have purches sata converter it detect hdd also alow to installed operating system
window XP2 but after installation some time it take much more time for bootting and some time it not boot. my mother board is 845gv
