Word Document Indexer and search tool

is there such a tool (apart from desktop search) that i can index and search
several thousand word documents for key words and phrases.
Basically want it to be customisable but also user friendly?

Any one help?

Ive just had a look on their website. It looks like more of a internet search
engine tool. Is this correct? I'm looking for more of a ms word indexer and
search tool.

Take a look at DD Desktop Search at http://www.DesktopDecision.com.
Search within Word Doc format will come in nearest future

No it indexes all the files on your drives. It's free to use, I have it
installed but disabled, because I prefer Agent Ransack for my searching.
