At work I use Word (Microsoft 2000).At home, we just got Microsoft
2007.
When i take a diskette home... powerpoint and excel works just fine.
However, Word comes up scripted each time.
Any known issues with this? Puzzling me.... Need to finish some work
at home.
Copy the files from the diskette to your hard drive at home. Can you open
the files okay now?
As a general practice, never open diskette-based files directly from Word.
Years of experience have taught long-time users that Word is really good at
corrupting files when editing directly on removable media. This has to do
with how and where Word creates .tmp files. Not only is editing on diskette
risky, it's also much slower than editing files when they're on your hard
drive. So... the proper method is to copy the files to your hard drive, edit
them there, close Word, then use Windows Explorer to copy the changed
file(s) back to diskette, if needed.
