In Word 2007, under Mailings, Envelopes:
The individual put an entry in the "Return Address" box, printed the envlope
and went about her business.
-The problem is that we can not get rid of the original entry in the Return
address box. I have tried deleting it, typing over it, and printing other
envleopes (even saving them) but, when you close and come back into word, the
original entry (which happens to be an "a") is still there.
-I deleted the normal.dotx templates with no success.
Is the return address stored somewhere else?

It's stored in the registry. The place to remove it is to go to Office
button > Word Options > Advanced and scroll to the bottom of the dialog.
Empty the Mailing Address box and click OK.
