Default Word 2007 crash and hpz3r4v6.dll

Greetings,

I've managed to install Office 2007 to a user in our organization who's
printer is an HP all-in-one system, an Officejet L7580 series. When the user
had Office 2003 installed, there was no issue. The problem started upon
installation of Office 2007.

Problem: Word 2007 crashes upon exiting and the hpz3r4v6.dll seems to be in
fault.

Now I know that hpz3r4v6.dll is an HP-file. Uninstalling/reinstalling the
driver is not an option because it was running well with the previous version
of Office before I have upgraded to Office 2007.

I've read in some other threads regarding this problem that
uninstalling/reinstalling the printer driver for the Officejet will cause
more problem, even on a fresh Windows XP SP2 & Office 2007 install. Word
crashes on exiting.

This is a copy of the error I am getting on the user's computer event log:
Event type: Error
Source: Microsoft Office 12
Category: None

Any ideas?
Thanks.

There is a driver on the HP site with a June 2007 timestamp, it may be newer
than what is installed on your system.

I don't know who told you reinstalling a driver will make things worse. It is
advisable to completely remove a driver before installing/re-installing

Thanks Mary,

I might give it a try a bit later on, there is an uninstaller utility on the
hyperlink you mentioned, I will run it as well as the driver updated from
June, however, the version of the driver on HP's website is the same as the
CD-ROM provided with HP for the Officejet, which is version 8.0.0

Will let you know if this fixes my problem or not.

Thanks!

I'd be interested in knowing if it all works. Good luck to you.

Hello Mary,
After replacing the driver on HP site as you mentioned for the HP all-in-one
L7580 series system and Office 2007, this issue still exists:

Faulting application winword.exe, version 12.0.4518.1014, stamp 45428028,
faulting module hpz3r4v6.dll, version 61.63.248.0, stamp 45c072db, debug? 0,
fault address 0x00045ac8.

When I had Office 2003, Word did not crash upon exiting, only after
installing Office (Word) 2007.

This is a great challenge for your 2nd level support team to find out

regards and nice to hear from you.

Maybe rolling back the driver? I have no idea what to tell you. Have you asked
the HP folks?

Default Word 2007 crash and hpz3r4v6.dll

I am having the same problem with my L7680. I have tried removing and reinstalling both the drivers and the Office suite to no avail.

I go into a chat session with HP tech support that redid everything that I had already tried and ultimately she said to disable all HP services in the MSCONFIG startup and reboot, if the problem still exists, contact MS. Well, it still exists.

Oddly, the error does not occur if I close the document before closing Word. It also does not occur if I create a new document and exit (whether I close it or not!).

Thanks Jeff for your reply, this proves that this issue is related to MS Word
2007 and NOT the HP hardware (or driver file).

Rolling back to a previous driver doesnt solve the issue either.

Before I upgraded the user w/ Office 2007, she had Office 2003 and her HP
L7580. Both were running fine, no crashes on exit in Word.

I await Office 2007 SP1 in hopes they solve that issue.

Thanks,
TL

Hi,

I just see the message below. I have exactly the same problem. The SP1
does't solve the problem. Is it the same for you?

Thanks and let me know if you have found something to resolve this problem,
please.

Bye
GF
