2 users on my computer. All office programs work fine for one user only.
Since downloading service pack 3, word fails to start and only opens in safe
mode. What can be the problem? I am at a loss since service pack 3 cannot be
removed. Who's idea was that anyway? I am running XP Home and don't plan to
update to Vista. I have 1792 ram memory with 1.26 GB available physical
memory. Any help would be apprieciated.

I tried every suggesstion on the list and I still have the same problem. Any
other suggesstions? Most of the suggesstions on that list doesn't pertain to
Word 2003 or my problem. I don't have a problem with my toolbars and I don't
have WinFax PRO v10.02, I don't have a network printer, I don't have Adobe
Acrobat version 5.0, I don't have Word 2000 or Word XP (2002). My problem is
when I start Word a dialog box pops up and says "Word failed to start the
last time, would you like to start in safe mode?" If I say yes, it will start
but only in safe mode. If I say no, it won't start but asks if I want to send
error report. It gives me no error code or error information but I keep
sending the error report but it's still not fixed. Windows update supplied me
with updated software for a printer that is not my default printer but for
one that was installed with quickbooks. I ran winword.exe /a, and winword /r
but still have the same problem. I have all current Windows and Office
updates with Office 2003 Professional and Adobe 8.0 standard updated. My
default printer is an Epson CX4800.

If Word starts in safe mode but not in normal mode, then the usual
causes are a damaged normal.dot template, a problem with the printer
driver for the default printer in Windows, or an add-in to Word. Did
you rename the normal.dot template in the user profile that has this
problem? Does Word start correctly if you choose a different default
printer in Windows? You don't have Acrobat 5, but you do have Acrobat
8, and Acrobat does install an add-in to Word, and 8.0 is not the
updated version of Acrobat.

Adobe 8.0 has also been updated to 8.1.1. Should I delete the printers that
the new programs installed? and by the way, Windows Update gave me the
updated printer software for the new printers that were installed. Where are
the add-ins to word located and how do I remove them? I only have one printer
and it is set as the default printer. Is there an update for my Epson CX4800?

It is poor netiquette to multipost. Would you prefer a reply here or in
the Word newsgroup where you multiposted this same question *after* I
replied twice to you?

I believe if you click the "what data does this error report contain" link
and then the Details button, you can get the crash bucket number that way
also.
