Default Vista and Office 2000

I have successfully (?) installed Office 2000 into Vista. Access and Excel
appear to work just fine. Word, on the other hand, hangs the system.
Whether I try to open Word directly or click on a .doc attachment in email,
the system hangs.

I tried reinstalling office, but that doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Thanks
