Visio 2003: shape search = Indexing Service Catalog does not exist
C'mon Microsoft how bout some help on this one!!!
I've search for the last 6 months for the soln and although MANY people have
posted re this problem there has been NOTHING from MS re how to fix - this is
strange since its a common problem.
If you (MS) can't fix it at least add a KB article that you acknowledge it
exists & stop us all wasting so much time and energy trying to fix it!
PROBLEM:
When you search for a shape (eg "firewall") you get the following error:
"1. Visio Local Shapes - The Visio Indexing Service Catalog does not exist.
Please repair the Visio installation."
** This is really frustration since you know shapes are there but can't
easily find them **
THINGS THAT DO NOT FIX IT:
Running a Visio repair - even one that resets all your customisations back
to defaults!
Deleting then re-creating your Visio index either by allowing the repair
(above) to do it automatically OR doing it manually.
ANY help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Nigel

Re: Visio 2003: shape search = Indexing Service Catalog does not exist
Hi Nigel,
It's not clear whether the Indexing service is enabled in your scenario http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827894/en-us?FR=1
or whether the shapes are on a Network share or your local PC, which can also cause some strange results.
You may want to use the link below to the MS Office Visio discussion group.

YES I have indexing enabled & had reviewed this article - doesn't apply.

I'm using TechNet Managed Newsgrps and it doesn't list VISIO as a newsgrp -
the only ones I get under the Office flyout are Office, Outlook & Excel hence
my posting here. Followed your Visio newsgrp link below and serached there
but nothing re my problem - will post there aswell.
