Default Upgrading

I have the Professional Version of Office 2000, but only need the upgraded
versions of Access 2007 & Word 2007. Can these be mixed in, or do I need to
get the full upgrade to Office 2007? My OS is Windows XP Media Edition.

You can just purchase the two individually, but you may find the full
upgrade comes at a better price.
Also Office2k is not fully compatible with Vista, and is out of support,
though this may not be important to you at this stage.
And if you use Outlook you need to use the same version of Word if you are
using it as your editor

You could upgrade only Access and Word, but I would reconsider due the
age of the other applications, and the relatively lower cost of
upgrading the entire suite.

I don't use Outlook. I use Thunderbird. Also, I'm not going to be upgrading
to Vinta since I don't want to lose the capability of the Media part of XP.
What I am looking for is a good Photo program but that isn't included in ANY
Office suite.

Take a look at Paint.net:

http://www.getpaint.net/index2.html

Open source, intuitive, and very very good.

For a 'good' photo app you would need a specialist photo app - its not
exactly an Office type app so its hardly surprising its not included,
besides which it would doubtless lead to further 'abuse of market dominance'
complaints if it was.
