To install my Office Upgrade 2003 I had to install first my Office 2000 onto
my new computer with Win.Vista Business. Whilst Office 2003 has the option
of excluding the installation of Programs you do not want e.g. Outlook, the
Office 2000 does not, and installs them all, and then when you upgrade to
Office 2003 it installs all programs 2000 installed, so that I ended with
Outlook, which now interferes with my Windows Mail functions.
Can anyone please tell me how to uninstall Outlook only on Windows Vista?
You don't have to install the early version when you upgrade, you simply
need the cd available to point to when the upgrade complains.
Office2k does indeed have the option to install only certain components, but
you will not see this unless you run a custom install.
If you have either OL2k or OL2003 installed use the appropriate cd to modify
the installation and set OL not to run from PC, this will remove it

PS In your post of 8th May you were advised to remove Office2k first when
upgrading

No, The Windows asked me install Office 2000 stating that it could not
install Office 2003, since it was an Upgrade version, so I did. During the
Office 200 installation I was on a look out for options to exclude some of
the programs, but I was not offered any. Then, when I installed office 2003
I excluded Outlook but it must have been was already installed.

You need to do as DL explained it. Remove OL2000 and then Install OL2003 Update using the OL2000 install CD as proof of a previous version when asked for one. You do not need to install 2000 beforehand.

I am a self tough user, so would you please kindly tell me what OL stands
for and how do I "using the OL2000 install CD as proof of previous version"
What should I do if I am told in the Notice that (if I remember correctly)
"Office 2003 cannot be installed without first installing Office 2000"

OL = Outlook
The msg is " *** cannot find a qualifying version", with a further note that
you can browse to the qualifying version (or similar) at this point you
insert the Office2k cd, and browse/point to it.
The version will be excepted & the install commence, you then replace the
office2k cd with your Office2003 cd
This is the same procedure for any MS upgrade, and most other upgrades.
On a further note the Office2k installation allows you to select the
components installed only *if you use Custom Install*
