Tools menu customize option

In the customize dialog box, I have 2 "new document" icon commands for the
file category. I'm trying to delete one of them from the commands list with
no success.
It's Word and Excel v2003. Thanks!

Why are you trying to delete them from the dialog box? In Word 2003, I have
THREE "New" commands in the file category, and each does something
different. Here, one is actually "New...", another just plain "New", and the
third has a solid black triangle pointing to the right.

Why not drag all three to a toolbar, and see what each does?

1. Opens the New Document task pane.

2. Immediately creates a new document based on Normal.dot.

3. Is a combination of #2 and a dropdown that gives you several choices.
