Is there a free way to upgrade Windows 98 to 2000?
Hello!
I need to upgrade my current Windows 98 system to Windows 2000 to install a
new high speed Internet service. My internet provider (AT&T) says there is a
free way to do this via MicrosoftOffice.com Web site, but I cannot find it.
I am a freelance writer, and need high speed internet for a new client, so I
am a bit desperate for any help/advice you can provide. I know I will
probably just have to buy a new computer, but am hoping there is an easier
way ... any info would be greatly appreciated!

No free way to upgrade from Windows 98 to Windows 2000. I can't believe
that AT & T would direct you to the Office web site as this is a program
that operates off of the OS (Win 98). Have they told you the issue in
setting up your current computer to their internet service? I would be
interested to find out what they say the issue is.
As for a new computer, you will probably be stuck with Windows Vista as the
new OS. If the new computer does have Vista instead of Win XP, make sure
you get as much RAM as possible (2-4 GB) to ensure that the system will
operate fast enough. Systems with less RAM (the 1 GB minimum) will not run
at peak efficiency due to the overhead of the operating system, IMHO.

You need to change ISP to some company that isn't completely incompetent.
