I hope it works for you as well as it did for me - it was very frustrating!

Oh, it wasn't a specific person, it was with a group of people, a very fun
group! (Echo was there too. :-))

I know this is an old thread, but I have a new twist. I am running
office 2007 on windows 7. There is significant lag in typing and I am a
very slow typist. It is only in word, my outlook is fine. The problem
exists only when my network printer is selected as my default printer.
The only local printer I have is my pdf printer.
Sounds like network problem or driver issues with that printer. If you
set the PDF printer as the Default printer, or install the "network"
printer as a Local printer does that cure the issue? You will need to
check with the folks in the Windows7 forum to help with the Local
Printer on an IP address installation. Let us know how it goes.

Problem solved, apparently an out of date printer driver was the issue.
A new windows 7 printer driver for HP LaserJet 1018 was just released a
couple of days ago.
