Default Simple audio solution (I hope) requested

Due to working environment I listen to music via headphones while working. We
run windows 2000. My problem is that the volume of Windows sounds is far
higher than my music via media player. I've looked at the options via volume
control but cannot seem to reduce the volume of the windows sounds in favour
of the music. I did disable the sounds but they get reloaded every time I
start up again. I receive a fair amount of email so suffer a mild heart
attack every time there's a message when I'm concentrating on other work. Can
anyone offer a simple solution please?

Thanks

This has nothing to do with Microsoft Office applications. You might try
double clicking the volume control and select advanced, and then reduce
the "wav" volume. Or try posting to the group discussing the operating
system you have installed.
