Should I remove the trial Office in Vista on my new computer?

I have just purchased a new computer with Vista and also, separately, a
Microsoft Office Professional 2007 package. The computer comes with an icon
showing a 60 day trial offer of Microsoft Office. Should I uninstall the
Offfice trial version or is it OK to just install the new package and ignore
the offer. I worry that they will become confused.

DEFINITELY uninstall the trial version from the system BEFORE you install the
Office Pro package. If you check out Microsoft's information on the trial
version I think you'll find that they warn about this. At worst it cannot
hurt to remove the trial. At best you will save yourself a great deal of
trouble with your Office Pro installation.

A friend of mine installed Office 2003 (different version, I know) on a
laptop without removing a trial Office 2003 version first. This caused her
all kinds of trouble in getting the blooming software activated and in
keeping it updated.

I did not see any warnings about retaining the trial version but it does make
sense and I appreciate your reassurance. Only after I got home did I find
that buying the Office package separately was cheaper than converting the
trial version. Also I don't really know much about the process. I talk
glibly about uninstalling but now I have to figure out just how to do that!

Click the Start button - type "programs" into the search box, then click on
Programs and Features. From there, find Microsoft Office 2007, click on it,
then click on Uninstall.

There are two Office related programs: "2007 Microsoft Office Suites" and
"Activation Assistant for the Microsoft Office Suites". Should I uninstall
both?

I suspect that only 2007 Microsoft Office Suites" is sufficient, but I
would remove both. If the "Microsoft Save as PDF or XPS Add-in for 2007..."
is listed, uninstall it, too.

My view is:
If you don't need it or it it is not a must have and you have older version
of Office..............use those. Office 2007 is pain in the
rectum...........period.

I followed the given advice and removed the promotional stuff before loading
Microsoft Office Professional 2007. Generally it went pretty well. I feel
like others that the new stuff is not as user friendly as the old, though.
I would like to thank you for your assistance and am sorry I did not get
back sooner.

I'm glad it's up and running. Almost nobody I know who went from 2003 or
earlier to 2007 likes it at first. It does tend to grow on you after a
while... particularly if you find new features that you like & use. I do
believe that 2007 is a bit of an ergonomic minefield, though, requiring more
steps to get things done--and things aren't always where [my] logic says
they should be. If it weren't for the QAT, I would find 2007 a lot less
tolerable.

i kjnow that this is late. i just got my computer about 2 weeks ago. i
installed small business 2007 before taking anything off. my icon still says
"60 day trial". after reading the previous posts i see that i may have messed
up. is there any help for me that i could do myself? Please email me at
