Default Requesting virus scan...

When opening Office docs, is there a way to stop the virus scanning?
I have the latest, up to date virus software & I have gone into
Tools>Macro>Security & set it to "Low", but docs don't open any
faster.
How can I get docs to open faster?
Thanks-

Hi Mikey,

If your Antivirus software has an Office plug-in it's the plug in that is doing the scan and Word is just advising you that it's
occuring, Word doesn't have a scanner installed. Check your antivirus software for the settings for additional Office document
checks.

Bob -- I thought about doing this, but if I disable scanning of (all)
Word documents, does that not put me at risk for any Word documents
that I might receive via email?

Not really. You're still protected by the AutoProtect Layer.

BUT, what the Office Plug-in can do that the AutoProtect Layer can't do is
scan encrypted files prior to opening. If you aren't sent password protect
files (password to open) regularly then you'll be fine. If you have a
suspicious file you can always turn the Office Plug-in on, restart the
Office application, and then open the file.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
