Recovery Mode in Word 2003

I have a user who has created documents that are stored in a network shared
drive. The douments open fine, but once she mininizes the documents; when she
tries to view them again Word comes up in Recovery mode.

I am at a loss to find anything on MS site(s) that relates to this, so I am
turning to the collective wisdom of the group.

Can anyone offer me a clue?
