Read-Only problem with Office Documents by use of WDS

We have the same issue as the following thread described.

We have installed various versions of Windows Desktop Search on our network.
I cannot remove it because we need WDS for our archiv system.

My question: Is only the version 2.6.5 concerned as it es described in the
MS article kb 927018 ?
Is the problem fixed at the latest version of WDS (4.0) ?
