Default Product key???

I have two copies of Office professional 2003 installed on two PC's that I
own. One is a desk top and the other is my laptop. My problem is this, the
desk top has suffered hard drive failure. I have purchased a new hard drive
and PC but have no idea which software is installed on which machine (I know
I should have made a note of it). How will I be able to get the product key
from my laptop so that I know which CD to reinstall and reactivate on the new
PC???

MagicJelly Bean or Beliric Advisor should give you key details

The two programs that DL advised will locate the activation key for the
program installed on the laptop.

If this is a retail full install version of OP 2003, it doesn't really
matter if the only machine that currently has it installed is the laptop as
the retail Pro EULA allows to be installed on one desktop and one portable
device (laptop.) The only time it would be an issue is if the laptop is
primarily used by one person and the desktop another person (per the EULA -
primary user for both machines - but anyone can, in fact use either machine
in a temporary manner.)

If a retail upgrade version, the same generally holds true in reference to
the EULA as the retail full version, but you need a qualifying license for
an older version of the software.

If an OEM version, the license has died with the old desktop ("you purchased
a new ... and PC") so you can't install it on the new desktop.
