I am having a strange problem with the track changes feature in Word
2003-- When I go into a document that has already been edited by
someone else, as I make my changes, they appear in a different color
than the other author's which is how it's supposed to work. The
settings in Track Changes are set to color changes by author; this is
the default setting which I have not changed. But for some reason,
when I save the document, my changes revert to the same color as the
previously existing edits by another author! This makes it very
difficult to distinguish my changes from anyone else's. I tried this
with a couple of the same documents on another computer and it worked
fine. So far, I have tried repairing Office as wel as removing and
reinstalling it. I have also installed Service Pack 3 for Office
2K3. I don't know what else to do and would greatly appreciate any
help with this.
In Word 2003 on your computer, click on Tools | Options | Security tab |
uncheck the "Remove personal information from file properties on save"
box | OK.

Could it be that Another Author's name has the same initials as your name?
If only one document has this problem on your computer, then try opening
that document using the Open and Repair option (in Word, click on File |
Open | click on the little black downward-pointing triangle at the right
end of the Open button | Open and Repair).
If this occurs in all documents you edit on your computer, then try
running Detect and Repair on your Office 2003 installation (in Word,
click on Help | Detect and Repair).
