Default Posting a Journal entry while a contact is open

I would like to post a journal entry for a contact while I have the contact
open. (for example record that I had a conversation) Now I can close the
contact so that I see all the contacts in a list. Then I can go Actions
...Create... New Journal Entry. But I would really like to do all that
without having to close the Contact properties. Is there a workaround?
