Default PLEASE HELP, REDUCED FUNCTIONALITY OF OFFICE PROFESSIONAL 2007

I have a full version of Microsoft office professional 2007 and all of a
sudden today all programmes in office has reduced function. After checking
status it is registered and activated but I can't use anything.
I did buy it with a computer a few months ago but that computer is no longer
with me. I have a new computer and installed the office on it and has worked
fine until today. The computer did come with a trial version but I
uninstalled that version before installing the full version. Can anyone help
me please?

Did you activate it again after installing it on the new computer? You have
to do the activation again any time you move Office to a different
environment. If the online activation fails, you'll have to use telephone
activation.

Hi Jay, thank you for your reply. No I did not re-activate it - it did not
ask (it shows that it is activated), but I can't find the wizard to do this
and really don't know how to go about it. I have looked everywhere after
reading through alsorts of microsoft pages and spent the whole day doing so!
I even telephoned microsoft and explained the problem but I had a horrible
person on the other end of the phone and would not listen and understand the
problem.

Hi Cymraes,

Search for a file named Opa12.dat on your PC (may need to search for hidden files) and rename it, then restart the PC, start Word
and check the status of Activation through Word 2007's
Office Button=>Word Options=>Resources=>Activate

In any Office program, click the Office button, click the Options button at the
bottom of the menu, click the Resources tab of the dialog, and click the
Activate button. If Office really has already been activated, a message will pop
up and say that. Otherwise, follow the instructions to reactivate.

Thank you for your responses. I removed all files for the trial version
Office12 - the trial version, I also found it in 'all users' files - deleted
op12.data files. I then re-started the computer and installed the full
version again which asked for the product key and when installation finished
it did not ask me for activation. When opened office programme it still had
reduced function but checking status it shows activated - I tried clicking
activate but nothing happened! I went into computer files and office it
still has office12 and the data op12.data there! My thinking is that it
seems that I can't get rid of office trial version and it is not recognising
the full version despite asking for product key. I can't re-activate as it
tells me it is activated, so how could I? Any suggestions?

Maybe try this;
Uninstall any ref to MS Office, or the trial, or activation in the
Add/Remove dialogue.
Then see this article;
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=928218 "How to uninstall the 2007 Office
system if you cannot uninstall it by using the 'Add or Remove Programs'
feature.
Finally clear all temp files, reboot the PC, and install from your cd

DL, I looked at this article and printed it out so that I could go through it
slowly bit by bit - it was 4 pages! Anyway I went through up until the
registry change/rename bit, and I really was too scared to do it as it did
warn that if you made a mistake it could cause serious problems. Also it
didn't show the registry part on my system as it was on the page - otherwise
I may have done it! I'm not confident to go through with it! There must be
an easier way to completely uninstall office as I can see now that this is
the cause of the problem. Whatever I do to uninstall and then install the
full version it does show the trial version! Not sure now what to do!

I understand your reluctance to work on the registry.

I will add, though, that the scary "Important" note in the article is the same
boilerplate that Microsoft puts into every KnowledgeBase article that mentions
editing the registry. Most operations in the registry don't carry the risk of
"serious problems" as long as you stay in the specific areas mentioned, and use
the Export command to make copies of the keys before you delete them so they can
be restored if necessary.

There aren't any alternatives that I know of to get rid of the trial version, so
you're left with two choices: Either find/hire someone who knows what they're
doing to fix the problem for you, or give up on Office and use some other
software suite.
