Default Password disaster

How do I stop Outlook 2003 from asking me to re-enter my password multiple
times?

Well, there are a couple (or more) possible reasons why Outlook is asking you
repeatedly for your password. But, basically, it's asking you for the
password because it "thinks" the password you have set up for that account is
being rejected. That can happen because a) the password you've entered in
Tools | Account Settings really is incorrect, or b) because something is
wrong on the mail server. I've been prompted for passwords because the mail
account was corrupted, because maintenance was being performed on the mail
server, because of error conditions on the mail server, etc. If you look at
the Send/Receive dialog for that account during the failed attempts do you
see any information on the Errors tab?

a bit more sinister than that. Sometimes it downloads email etc etc and then
it asks for the password a second time half way through downloading multiple
emails (and sometimes it doesn't). This doesn't happen when I am surfing only
when downloading emails. Whats more it happens on both email accounts on
three different unnetworked, non sharing computers.

Yeah. I don't like the sound of that at all. I've never heard of anything
quite like it, and I don't know what to suggest. Is the password dialog the
"normal" one, or does it look different in some way? Are the different e-mail
accounts all getting mail from the same server, or different servers? Do you
see the behavior NOT happening on any mail accounts? If so, what is different
about those accounts?

The OP should set the send/receive intervals to no less than 10 minutes - I use 30. Sometimes Outlook can step on itself if it is trying to poll multiple accounts with a 1 or 2 minute interval.

DIFFERENT SERVERS DIFFERENT COMPUTERS SAME PROBLEM NO ERROR MESSAGES , JUST A
WINDOW COMING UP ASKING FOR THE PASSWORD AND THEN ALL OKAY UNTIL NEXT SEND
RECIEVE OR MAYBE THE ONE AFTER.

IT IS OKAY FOR YOU TO SAY NO IDEA, MUST BE A VIRUS, BEST OF LUCK.

Hi, Peter. Did you see Milly Staples' suggestion? I haven't seen the
"stumbling" behavior she mentions in quite some time, but I'm sure this
varies from server to server. I do remember that setting automatic e-mail
send/receive for too short an interval used to result in Outlook asking for
passwords -- and some other odd behaviors, too.
