Hello,
I have been having trouble with my Outlook 2002 program (it's part of
the MS Office XP Standard for Students & Teachers). When I open it, it
automatically closes about 10 seconds later. In the past few days, I had
installed software for a Sharp Wizard organizer on the computer, which
is supposed to download info from Outlook onto the organizer. Well, it
caused so many problems that I uninstalled it, and did a system restore
to a few days before I had the issue. I did Windows updates (including
office updates) and I also just did a system Checkdisk and Defrag -
everything went fine except that about 1GB of data didn't defragment
(the Outlook.pst file).
So basically doing all of those steps still didn't solve the problem.
What do I need to do? Should I reinstall Outlook? What's the best way
for me to backup the addresses and emails (since it's so large, I can't
put it on a CD - that's only 700 MB). I have been thinking of buying a
backup hard drive (at least 250 GB) from Iomega or Seagate but have not
gotten around to doing that yet.
By the way, I have an HP Pavillon computer (about 4 years old) with
Windows XP Home edition, if that is of any help.
Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!!

I just tried to do repair from the Office CD - I then restarted the
computer and tried to start Outlook again - it started up with needing
to 'fix' a few things for a few minutes (saying it was shut down
improperly)- then it closed on its own again
Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks so much,
Rachel
