Default Outline headaches; input requested

I'm trying to type up an outline and I'm finding a number of challenges that
I could use some help with.

Issue 1:
When I hit return to create a new line, Word reverts back to the "Normal"
style; i.e. no more numbering. Its supposed to continue the numbering system
when you hit return with the next number in the sequence right? How do I keep
it in the number format, outline?

Issue 2:
In my outline, After I have more than one or two indented sentences. it
inserts a page break that I can't delete. Example:

I. First heading
(page break)

A. 3lkfkjg
B. klvbv
C. klnvvjoigf4

Issue 3:
If I change the style format so that the text wraps with a hanging indent,
it will not persist. As soon as I hit return for another line, all of those
heading styles revert back to the default format with no hanging indent (the
text no longer lines up....)

Any brilliant insights are appreaciated!
